Aviation Faculty Changes at Delta State
By Rebecca McCracking, Delta State University
Hello, Mississippi Airport Association! I’m excited to announce new faculty members of Delta State University’s Department of Commercial Aviation. Some of you may know about the flight program at DSU. If not, the “Flying Okra” is something to experience!
The Department of Commercial Aviation’s stated mission is to provide a quality educational experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the field of aviation. Graduates of this program will have the skills to perform in flight crews and as executives with supervisory and managerial responsibilities at all levels in the aviation sector.
I’m Rebecca McCracking, a graduate of the program and now an Instructor in Commercial Aviation. I have six plus years as a flight instructor and five years as a corporate pilot. I have earned my Airline Transport Pilot license and recently completed a Master of Science in Aeronautics. I hope to share my experiences to inspire young aviators and am thrilled to be educating the minds of tomorrow’s pilots and aviation managers.
I’m not the only alum who has returned to Delta State. Congratulations are due for our new Interim Chair of the Department of Commercial Aviation, Rogel Campbell, Jr. Mr. Campbell earned a master’s degree from Delta State University and has an Airline Transport Pilot license. He has many years’ experience training students in both plane and classroom.
Finally, I’d like to introduce Vahid Ghomi, an Instructor of Commercial Aviation. He is new to Delta State, coming to us from the University of Mississippi. He is in the final stages of completing a Ph.D. in Business Administration, concentrating on Marketing and Supply Chain Management. Mr. Ghomi has authored many publications in his field and has spent several semesters teaching young adults.
I hope you will welcome the new changes and stop by to visit. I’d be happy to show you around and show you our facilities! Go Fighting Okra!
