Airport Multimodal Program: The FY2021 airport multimodal program is scheduled to kick off in April. We anticipate having the applications and information available online the week of April 8. The deadline to submit an application will be May 1, 2020. As always, the program is designed for high priority, immediate need projects. The multimodal program should not be the initial source for funding a project. If your project has other funding involved (i.e. FAA, CDBG, etc.), please make sure those funds are in place before requesting any multimodal funds. These are 2-year grants, so your proposed project must be able to be completed within that timeframe.
Project Balances: We have several FAA matching projects on the books where the federal grant has been closed out by the FAA, but the matching grants are still active. We also have some for which no reimbursements have been requested. From FY2016 through FY2019, MDOT issued 179 matching grants to cover 50% of the local share for the FAA airport improvement projects. To date, a total of 48 airports have not requested any reimbursements. For the multimodal program, we are experiencing similar issues. MDOT issued 44 grants in the FY2019 and FY2020 fiscal years. Twenty-four (24) have not requested any reimbursements. Please submit reimbursement requests as soon as possible to draw these funds down, especially the multimodal projects. The request forms for both the matching grants and the multimodal grants are available on our Aeronautics section on the MDOT website. If you have any questions, please call our office at 601-359-7850 or email me at [email protected], and we will be glad to assist you.
