MDOT Report

By Tommy Booth, Director
MDOT Aeronautics

FAA 5010 Airport Inspections:  The FY2020 airport inspections have begun. As usual, we are scheduled to inspect 69 airports this year. Each year, we begin in the northern part of the state and work our way southward. David Lowery will be contacting you in advance to schedule a time to make his visit. The based aircraft numbers are an important part of the inspection. The FAA is paying close attention to these numbers. Please have that information available, so we can update the based aircraft database.

New MDOT website:  MDOT has updated the website, so it has a whole new look. The Aeronautics Division is located under Intermodal Planning’s page. A lot of our forms were out of date, so we’ve made some updates. We added the new FAA SF424 form that is required for the pre-applications and the applications, and we kept the 5100-4 Engineering Worksheet that accompanies the application. We also added the new reimbursement request forms for both the FAA matching grants and the multimodal grants. These are in Microsoft Excel format, so they can be easily downloaded. Finally, the project checklist was added. This provides an outline of items required by our office for both the FAA grants and the multimodal projects. It also specifies in what form the submittal should be (paper, electronic or in some cases, both).

And finally…  The MDOT Aeronautics Division would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We hope you and your family have a wonderful time together and have safe travels this holiday season.
