Mississippi-By-Air (MBA) Program
By Samuel L. Washington, MBA, MCA

Have you ever wondered what your hometown looks like from the air? Have you ever wanted to see different areas of our state but don’t want to face the long drives and the traffic? Have you and a family member or friend wanted to plan a great aerial adventure together?
Well, we have the adventure for you!! The Mississippi Airports Association (MAA) is putting together a new program that will be called Mississippi-By-Air (MBA). This program will encourage members of the MAA and other pilots throughout the state of Mississippi and the Southeast to fly their aircraft to all the public-use airports around the state. While visiting each airport, participants will also be encouraged to visit the local area to see some of the local sights and to share their enjoyment of aviation with others. Each pilot who visits every public airport in Mississippi and can provide proof of the visits will receive a prize for their efforts, along with recognition at the annual MAA conference.
The program is slated to begin in January 2018. More information will be sent out via the MAA website, Facebook page and other media. We hope that all our current and future MAA members will enthusiastically support the program and lead the way in visiting our local airports and helping to increase operations around the state. Come on MAA, let’s get ready to earn that MBA!
