Hello, and welcome to this edition of the Mississippi Airports Association newsletter. Naturally, being the new President of the organization, I had to be the last one to submit an article. It was not by design, just older age. I want to thank the Association for allowing me this privilege and opportunity to lead our group for the next two years. I believe that there are some exciting times ahead for Mississippi airports, and I hope to be involved with many of those times.

As you probably know by now, I have begun a new job at the Greenville Mid-Delta Airport. I was selected to become the new Airport Director after the retirement of Mr. Lee Owen, to whom I owe a great debt of gratitude for recommending me for the position. I want to thank Lee for his professionalism and tenacity in ensuring that the Greenville Mid-Delta Airport remained on a solid footing. It is now my charge to do as Emeril Lagasse says and “…kick it up a notch!” I will be counting on wisdom from God and advice and counsel from all of my counterparts throughout the state to help make the Greenville Mid-Delta Airport the best it can be.

Looking ahead, our next board meeting will be coming up soon, and Kathy will be sending out the invites. In the meantime, please send me any suggestions that you have for the agenda so that we can ensure that we devote some time to the topic. Let us wish the Mississippi State Bulldogs baseball team the best during their run in the College World Series!!
