Greetings MAA members,
Wow, 2020 has been one for the history books – and we still have three months to go!! COVID-19; conferences, airshows and vendor expos cancelled; businesses curtailed or closed; furloughs and layoffs; Laura and Marco hitting the U.S within a week of each other, then Sally…. Whew, let me catch my breath!
In spite of what seems like a real roller coaster of a year, I hope that our Mississippi airports are beginning to see some positive indicators. Here at Greenville, we are seeing more passenger traffic and an increase in GA and military traffic at our airport. Our FBO has weathered the storm and is seeing its bottom line trend in a positive direction. A big thank you to Mayor Errick D. Simmons and the Greenville City Council for a much-needed cash infusion for the FBO. We recently reopened the restaurant in the terminal building, and we are very hopeful that this new vendor will have success. Boutique Air has resumed service direct from Greenville to Nashville, TN, and we are already seeing very positive bookings for that route. Yes, it is a peculiar time, but I can’t help but remain positive that better days are ahead.
Thanks again to all of our MAA members for continuing to serve your airports with pride and professionalism. Thank you also for all of your continued support during my tenure as President. The 2021 conference in April should be a blast, especially after all of this pent-up frustration from COVID-19. I can’t wait; what about you?? Until next time, “Blue Skies and Tail Winds!”
