Season’s Greetings MAA members,

As I write this to you, we have just completed our very first (hopefully only) virtual MAA Conference, and I must say, it was a rousing success!  Thank you so much to the entire conference team who worked to pull this all together in a rather short time period and made it work so seamlessly.  The presenters were all top-notch, and we had great support from a number of our corporate and airport sponsors.  Bravo to you all!!

I want to encourage us all to remain careful, vigilant and patient as we continue to work our way through the COVID-19 crisis.  New guidance just came out from the MS Department of Health concerning social gatherings, and we need to ensure that we and our employees adhere to these guidelines as much as possible.  This is without a doubt the most unusual experience that I have ever had to deal with, and I know that all of you are dealing with your own challenges at your individual airports.  But I am confident that we will get through this and be better for it.

I want to say another big “Congratulations!” to our Professional of the Year, Mr. Bill Cotter, of Stennis International Airport and Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission.  Bill has been a true friend of the Mississippi Airports Association and a great advocate for aviation in Mississippi.  The award is well deserved, and we wish Bill the absolute best as he moves into new and exciting ventures in his career.

Merry Christmas and a joyous and blessed New Year to each and every one of you.  Until next time, “Blue Skies and Tail Winds!”
