The summer travel season is soaring at Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN), with increased flight frequencies, new destination options and rising passenger demand, making 2025 a standout year for Central Mississippi air travel.
Airlines serving JAN have reported a significant uptick in summer reservations, and passengers now have access to nine nonstop airports. Compared to last year, flights from JAN are up more than five percent, with available seating growing by nearly three percent – a sign of continued demand and confidence in the region’s air service.
In April, Southwest Airlines expanded service to include Nashville, providing Mississippians with dozens of new travel connections through the vibrant Tennessee capital. Southwest now serves four cities nonstop from JAN.
Delta Air Lines, JAN’s longest-serving airline since 1929, will offer eight peak daily flights to Atlanta, the world’s busiest airport. From Atlanta, travelers can connect to nearly 1,000 flights across five continents, with Delta offering nearly 100,000 seats from JAN this summer alone.
American Airlines will provide almost 90,000 seats, including up to six daily flights to Dallas-Fort Worth, four to Charlotte, and one to Washington Reagan National Airport. United Airlines adds nearly 30,000 seats, connecting Jackson travelers to its Houston hub – and from there, to six continents.
“We are excited to offer even more travel options for our passengers in Jackson and Central Mississippi this summer,” says Rosa M. Beckett, CEO of the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority. “As Mississippi’s busiest airport, we remain focused on growth, exceptional service and community-centered investments.”
To support this momentum, JMAA is investing millions in infrastructure enhancements at JAN, reinforcing its commitment to providing a world-class travel experience for every passenger.
