MDOT REPORT

It was a busy spring in MDOT Aeronautics. The FY 2026 Airport Multi-Modal cycle is wrapping up. Congratulations to all of those that were awarded. As is becoming standard, there were simply too many good projects to fund all of them. All told, there were 32 applications worth about $8 million in requested funds. We were able to fund 17 of them, totaling $3,756,446. With the completion of a special session of the legislature, MDOT now has its state FY 2026 budget, and we can proceed with issuing grant agreements and getting these projects moving, come July 1.

Speaking of the special session, SB 2049 provided funding for the Strategic Multi-Modal Fund again, though the level remains to be clarified. Section 2 (page 4) of the bill indicates it is $10 million, while Section 18 (page 10) indicates $18 million. As of this writing, the bill has passed both houses and has been sent to the Governor and is due back by June 19.
