MDOT REPORT

By Josh Stubbs, Director
MDOT Aeronautics

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, and I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas on behalf of the Aeronautics staff of MDOT!

It’s been a busy fall as I wrap up the FY2022 AIP program and get the FY2023 rendition going. Things won’t be slowing down, as we’re also just a few months away from the FY2024 multimodal application cycle. As of press time, I anticipate keeping a similar application cycle schedule as last year, kicking off in March and having grant agreements out in June.

David Lowery has started the FAA 5010 Airport Inspections, beginning at the north end of the state and working his way south. We are set to complete the standard 69 annual inspections, so if he has not already reached out to you, he will in due time.

The revenue numbers are off to a strong start for state fiscal year 2023. Through three months, sales tax on parking is about $216,000, and sales tax on gas is about $382,000, bringing total revenues to almost $600,000.

On a more somber note, Heather Grippando has moved on from her role at MDOT. We thank her for the many years she dedicated to the airports in Mississippi and wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors! If there’s anything you need from MDOT where she was your point of contact, please don’t hesitate to call the front desk at 601-359-7850 or email me at [email protected].
