PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Hello MAA Members,

Whew!! This year is really “flying by!” We can be so proud of all we have accomplished this first half of the year. Columbus-Lowndes County Airport conducted an “Eyes Above the Horizon” youth outreach program, which 90 young people attended. There are three new restaurants at GPT, a fueling project at Olive Branch and customer service and fueling improvements in Panola. There are probably a hundred more, but not enough room to name them all.

I would like to thank our Legislature and MDOT for creating the Strategic Multi-Modal Fund. These additional funds will ensure that small communities with airports will see projects for aviation growth come to fruition.

I would like for everyone to join me in welcoming Rosa Beckett as the new CEO of the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority. I know she will ensure the state’s busiest airport continues to move forward, and she will be a great asset to MAA.

Finally, registration for the 2023 Conference is now open on our website. I look forward to seeing you all in Meridian and having a great conference. I have enjoyed serving such a fine organization of professionals, and I thank you for allowing me the privilege.

See you in Meridian!

Sincerely,

Thomas Heanue
President
