Soul to Shore: JAN Welcomes the Return of the MIA Nonstop Flight with American Airlines

Nonstop JAN-MIA service began March 14.

The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) saw new American Airlines weekly nonstop service from Jackson–Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) to Miami International Airport (MIA) beginning Saturday, March 14, 2026, just in time for spring break travel. This route will operate through the peak spring and summer seasons of 2026.

This new route strengthens connectivity for Mississippi travelers while welcoming visitors into Jackson through one of the world’s most globally connected hubs. From business and leisure travel to international connections, JAN–MIA expands opportunities, access and economic impact for our region, opening Caribbean, European and Central and South American markets to Mississippians.

Restroom Renovations:
Restroom renovations at JAN are progressing nicely at the ticketing level. The updated spaces will feature modern finishes, inspiring textures and refreshed design elements that reflect our commitment to providing a best-in-class customer experience and community.

Escalators:
Construction has begun on JAN’s west escalator bank, located across from the Delta Air Lines ticket counter. In the meantime, travelers can enjoy the new east escalator bank, now open and fully operational.
