The third edition of the Strategic Multi-Modal Investments Fund has concluded. The Mississippi Transportation Commission awarded $20,128,314 to 26 applicants. The funding included $18 million from the annual legislative appropriation and some additional rollover money. From this, the airports received $6,980,896 over 12 projects. All told, there were 30 airport applications worth $14.3 million and 56 applications worth $47.8 million overall. At the conclusion of most grant cycles, we talk about how there were a number of good projects that didn’t get funded. Never has it been truer than with this one.

The traditional Multi-Modal application cycle is underway. The deadline for application submittal is March 27, 2026. The anticipated timeline will have the Airport Multi-Modal Committee meeting in May, and the awards headed to the Commission for approval in June. The grant agreements would then be sent out to the recipients in advance of the 2027 state fiscal year.
