PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Dear MAA Members and Partners,

The Mississippi Airports Association held Capitol Day on January 28 in Jackson. A special thank you to those who were able to attend and meet with legislators while they were in session.

Capitol Day provided MAA members from regions throughout Mississippi an opportunity to network with legislators and to further educate as to the importance of the Mississippi Department of Transportation’s Multi-Modal Transportation Improvement Fund and the Strategic Multi-Modal Investments Fund. In addition, attendees were able to share the mission of MAA and the benefits that airports have on our state’s economy. Members had an opportunity to advocate for an MAA supported bill that ultimately would aid airports in removing, repurposing or selling vehicles left abandoned at airports.

Members were able to meet Senate Highways and Transportation Committee Chairman Senator Chuck Younger as well as Vice-Chair Senator Michael McClendon, along with Senator Scott DeLano who chairs Ports and Marine Resources and serves on the Senate Highways and Transportation Committee. MAA members also visited with Representative Jeff Guice who chairs Ports, Harbors and Airports in the House of Representatives.

On behalf of the MAA Legislative Committee, we ask that you please thank your Representative and Senator for their support of the multimodal programs and let them know of the significant assistance that the MDOT Aeronautics Division provides to all Mississippi airports. Again, thank you to those who were able to attend Capitol Day.

Sincerely,

Clay Williams
President
Mississippi Airports Association
