MDOT REPORT
MDOT Aeronautics and Rails
The FY2027 Multi-Modal cycle has reached its conclusion. There were 29 applications submitted, totaling almost $11.5 million. Obviously, that is considerably more than the available funding. We were able to fund 11 projects worth $3.8 million. Congratulations to all those applicants who received an award. Between the traditional Multi-Modal Transportation Improvement Program and the Strategic Multi-Modal Investments Fund, about $11 million has been awarded to airports in 2026.
It’s now time to shift gears from the MDOT multi-modal programs to the MDOT state matching grants for FAA projects. As a reminder, we are applying the same procedures to the Airport Infrastructure Grants projects that exist for the Airport Improvement Program projects. This means that MDOT is providing one-half of the non-federal share, up to $200,000 per airport per year. State matching grants will be sent to the airport sponsors upon approval by the Mississippi Transportation Commission. The current schedule is to have the first round of state matching grants on the Commission’s July 28 agenda. Grants that do not make that agenda will be on a Commission agenda in October.
