Visitors can now enjoy two stunning murals at Key Field Airport in Meridian that showcase the history and beauty of the airport. Meridian Airport Authority, with the collaboration of The Meridian Museum Art Collective, launched two murals in 2023.

The first mural, “Welcome to KMEI,” is on the airfield side and is a nice greeting to all pilots who come to Meridian Aviation, Meridian Airport Authority’s FBO.

The second mural features the Ole Miss, a monoplane Al and Fred Key made famous in their flight endurance record at the airport in 1935, as well as a mixture of military and commercial aircraft that use Meridian Aviation’s services. Also in the design are a T-45 Goshawk, flown at Naval Air Station Meridian, as well as F-18 jets, a NASA T-38 and a Cessna. This mural is located on the highway side of the airport and seen as you drive by the airport.

Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a longtime resident, these murals are sure to leave a lasting impression and sense of pride in the community.

An airside mural welcomes pilots to the Queen City.
Drivers on the highway can see a mural with several aircraft representing Meridian’s aviation past and present.
