In October, Meridian Regional Airport hosted an all-airport tour for members of the Boys and Girls Club of East Mississippi, children from Eastern Gardens and members of the Ward 4 community. There were more than 80 people in attendance.

On the tour, children heard from airline employees and learned about their roles in airport operations and visited with firefighters from the 186th Air Refueling Wing Fire and Rescue about some of the special equipment needed to respond to airplane emergencies. They also learned about the steps to becoming a pilot and stopped by the airport’s maintenance hangar to see what it takes to be an airplane mechanic.

Meridian’s Executive Director Tom Williams talked with kids from the Boys and Girls Club of East Mississippi.
