Civil Engineers Seek Airport Information for Report

By Jennifer Sloan Ziegler, Chair
Report Card for America’s Infrastructure, Mississippi Section, ASCE

Every four years, the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Report Card for America’s Infrastructure depicts the condition and performance of American infrastructure in the familiar form of a school report card – assigning letter grades based on the physical condition and needed investments for improvement. In 2020, the Mississippi Section graded 12 of the state’s infrastructure categories including Aviation, which received a C.

In early 2024, the Mississippi Section is planning on releasing its updated Infrastructure Report Card after a 9-month process that starts this month! Over the next nine months, professionals will gather data on our state’s aviation infrastructure for eight key criteria: capacity, condition, funding, future need, operation and maintenance, public safety, resilience and innovation.

Tom Henderson with Neel-Schaffer is leading the aviation chapter, and he can use your help! If you have any reports regarding the eight key criteria, innovative projects to highlight or photographs to share, or you know of any databases that have available information, please send them to him by the beginning of June at [email protected].
