Capitol Day Emphasizes Multimodal Impact

By Clay Williams, Executive Director
Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport

Among those on hand at MAA Capitol Day to talk with legislators about the economic impact of our airports and the importance of multimodal funds were (from left) Wes Kirkpatrick of Monroe County Airport, retired MDOT Aeronautics Director Elton Jay and Tommy Booth of Michael Baker International and formerly MDOT Aeronautics Director.

The Mississippi Airports Association held Capitol Day in Jackson on February 2, 2023. A special thank you to those who were able to attend and to Kathy Kenne for hosting a booth and display in the state’s Capitol building on behalf of our organization.

Capitol Day provided MAA members from regions throughout Mississippi an opportunity to network with legislators and to further educate as to the importance of the Mississippi Department of Transportation’s Multimodal Transportation Improvement Fund. In addition, attendees were able to share the mission of MAA and the benefits that airports have on our state’s economy.

On behalf of the MAA Legislative Committee, we ask that you please thank your Representative and Senator for their support of the multimodal program and let them know of the significant assistance that the MDOT Aeronautics Division provides to all Mississippi airports.
